you would have to if your hair is dark, if I was doing it in my salon, I would strip the front section with bleach, then do the sections you want using different colour toners ie similar to what you would get with having foils done, can it be done at home yes of course, with some help from a friend, all the items req from Sally's or a chemist, I think done properly it would look stunning good luck with it

No don't bleach it, there is a product you can buy, I know boots sell it, which prepares your hair for dying it with a colour. It might be a bleach type product, but I would use this as its specially for that purpose.

Yes that is the only way you will get a really strong pink or purple, if you put pink or purple over dark hair it won't show up much.

yeah u have to have a light base to get the colour to work..

thats what i did oh and dont worry if it goes a bit orange when u bleach it

cos when you put the colours on you wont see it!

i would go to a hairdresser. Pre-lightener prob wont be that good if you have been dying over grey. Bleach may be the only option, so the hairdresser would be the best option!

Yeah. If I was you I'd try tesco's own brand of toilet bleach.
