What are the effects of bleaching then dyeing your hair?

what are the bad effects that can happen and do happen when you bleach then dye your hair

I have brown hair and want to dye it a bright pink or blue

it all depends on the condition of your hair before you start. is it straight/curly? do you use a lot of products or hairdyers/straighteners? i have had every colour under the sun and my hair has YET to fall out but you have to be confident in yourself. if you plan to do it at home my best tip is to pop into a "Sally's" hairdressing shop, i think they are all over the place. they sell products to hairdressers so you know you are getting a good quality product, plus most of the people who work there have a history in hairdressing and can give you advice on measurements for bleach powder/peroxide as this will vary depending on the length of your hair. plus, make sure you get a toner as well as the peroxide, as otherwise you could end up with an orangey tinge which is not a good look (i have first hand experience of this one). otherwise i would say it is worth going to a salon for at the very least the bleaching part because they know all this kind of stuff already. as to colouring on top, it's totally fine as long as you are aware it is a HUGE commitment once you start. I am 28 and have not had natural hair colour since i was about 17 and it can be a bit of a pain to keep re-touching etc. plus you have to make sure you look after it - don't over-use your hairdryer and give it a conditioning treatment from time to time. hope this advice helps! happy colouring!

It's a standard procedure to bleach hair first, then add on a colour toner. Are you planning on colouring your whole head or just streaks? Either way, the process will dry out your hair, so make sure you use a good conditioner.

the effects are at first it will look fab,,

later on it's dry as straw and it takes along time to get back your natural conditioning...

depending on the condition of your hair now, it shouldn't be that bad.....if you have not colored your hair before, it should be pretty easy.......just make sure you dont wash your hair for like 2 days before you bleach, to let the natural oils protect your scalp (bleach can sting a bit), also make sure to do deep conditioners every 2 weeks.....when you buy the color, go to sally beauty supply and buy clean touch, its a stain remover, it will help with any stains you get on your skin. pink and blue are great colors for hair.....pleeeeez make sure your hair comes out light, if its too yellow.....well yellow and blue make green, lol. when i did my pink and blue, i did the roots pink and the ends blue and the middle where they met kinda went purple.....it was really kewl......good luck, have fun!!!!
