What kind of dye are people using to color their hair?

like.....this girl on myspace said she constantly dyes her hair, its been pink, purple blue...highlighted. i was just wondering how they do that, and what kind of dye are they using, and is this safe to do?

if some1 could answer all those question, its would be helpful.

Manic Panic or Punky Colour are what most use to dye their hair unnatural colors, they are other brands out there but I think these two are the best.

Using these type of dyes are a little more complicated than regular dye though. To do these colors you have to bleach your hair if it's dark. Also, don't wash the dye out right away. It's vegetable based so it won't damage your hair, the longer you leave it in the better. I leave mine in for a couple hours, but some leave it in over night.

They're semi-permanent and fade with every washing. I usually touch mine up once a month. And when the dye job is fresh it will turn everything it touches that color, your sheets, the wall (if you rest your head against it), etc.

In terms of safety, bleaching is damaging, but the dye itself is more safe than regular dyes. Bleaching really isn't as bad as most make it out to be though, condition well and use hot oil treatments afterwards our hair is as good as new. At least mine is.

they sell hair dyes at sallys beauty supply that are extreme colors like that. im not sure of the exact brand it is. but thats the only place ive ever seen it. some hair salons also dye hairs weird colors like that too.
