yes this straightener will work on your hair even if it's curly, i have it and i love it! i use it everyday and my hair is still healthy. It makes your hair super straight and shiny and as long as you don't over straighten it it won't be too flat. I would definetley recommend getting it even if it's a little bit pricey it's definetley worth it plus it will last a very long time as long as you use it carefully. I would also like to suggest using a hair serum or straightening cream before you straighten your hair to make it extra shiny. Good Luck!

I have never tried that one but I regularly use the Chi flat iron. They are expensive but very much worth it. I find a combination of that and the Chi Silk Infusion straighten my curly hair easily. If you haven't already tried to do it in sections you should. This is the only way I can get rid of the poof you speak of. I get a big clip and clip it all up on the top of my head and kind of part it around the base of my skull with my finger and pull down the bottom layer. I then straighen that, then do the same thing with another layer up a little higher and keep doing it in layers. It sounds like it takes a long time but once you get used to it, it takes me about 15 minutes and it stays straight the whole day. Good luck!
