How do you put layers in your hair?

Ok i want to do this like right now.

I have hair half way down my back and it's all the same length all the way round.

Because the underside of my hair is dyed pink I want lots of layers to stop my hair looking too thick and bulky.I wan't more texture so it shows off the pink.

What is a quick way of doing this?

My hairdresser is on holiday and I can't get anyone else to do it because I have to see an afro stylist because my hair is so hard to manage.

Is it just a case of seperating the bit I want layering and hack away till I'm happy or there more to it?

Right don't hold me to this, but my mum layed my hair and what she did was put my hair into a high ponytail and snip at the end (obviously evenly). I used to have the back of my hair dyed purple and that's what she did. People did notice it more.

Unless you are a hairdresser I wouldn't even attempt to try this yourself. The only result will be disaster. You sound like you have nice long hair, don't mess it up. Get another hairdresser to do it or wait till your usual one comes back.

I cut my own hair, and u can just tie ur hair back and pull down the bottom layer and kind of hack at it with a razor, then tie that layer with a pony. then pull down another layer and make it a bit shorter than the last but not by much. then just keep doin this till ur done, hope this helps.

And no its not as easy as seperating the bit you want layered and hacking away. Your hair will end up uneven at best and at worst you could cut a signifigant hole in your hair. You are seeing a special hairdresser for a reason if hair was really easy to cut you would do it yourself all the time.

So therefore i would just wait to go to your hairdressers that way you dont regret cutting it yourself let alone the chance of cutting it shorter than you want to..never do it yourself,i dont know how many times clients come in and say i tried cutting my hair and now look, its so hard to fix and almost impossible to get the look you want. YOu will just end 98 percent of the time hating yourself for cutting your hair. Dont do it unless you willing to take risk.
