my hair is light brown/dark blond and i want to lighten it so I can dye it pink. I got box hair dye from the store. or should i use the lightening kit they sell with the pink hair dye? i dont want it all pink, just the under side and some streaks

Go to the salon and get it lightened as light as they can go, this will help with damage because if you lighten it with the lightener that comes with the pink hair dye it's going to do some major unnecessary damage.

After your trip to the salon just go home and apply the pink.

Bleach your hair in the spot you want it to be. Probably bleaching it once will show, but probably not that PINK. So many twice or maybe even 3 times. Bleaching will work, I guarantee.

well it depends on how old you are if your still mid teen then i would leave it and just let your hair grow then go to a professional and let them color it never use that bad stuff from the bow it will ruin your hair

I would use blondisima or some extreme bleaching kit similar. A normal blonde dye wont do it. You're hair has to be Platinum or it wont be a vibrant pink.

Make sure to section off only the parts you want to dye, and keep the rest of your hair away from the bleach! Lol!!

Once the sections are plantinum (which may take a couple of bleachings), wait a day or two and do the pink.

Seriously, don't wash your hair after the pink dye for at least 2-3 days or it will fade a lot and use old pillowcases!

P.S. You may be tempted to jump the gun with the pink dye, before the sections are really platinum (like if the hair is reasonably blonde)...but trust me, you'll like the results much more if you're patient!
