I think I'll start with just a temporary dye maybe, to see if I'll like the results. I was thinking dark brown, or maybe a bit of red. But will the dark brown wash me out? Can I pull off red?

I am the same way. I got highlights and they looked so bad. So if anything DO NOT go lighter, go darker. When I died it back the colour was a little bit darker than my natural colour and it really made my eyes stand out. I think you should go with a slightly darker colour, that way it will not wash you out. One of my friends died her hair an auburn (redish-dark brownish) color and it looked so pretty. But she is also really tan...I would go with a darker brown. Not too dark though, because it might wash you out. One thing I learned though ( after messing with my hair) is that I like my natural colour to begin with. So make sure you really want to change your hair before you do it. Good luck!

I would say a dark brown color, or maybe even black, idk, the dark brown would probably look best, with like jet black, lowlights.

I think you should do a brown under tone and warm blonde chunky highlights. I am a stylist and I think this will warm your face and the blonde highlights will bring out your blue eyes. A nice cut will help pull the look together. Hope this helps.
